Chace Crawford Backs Out from Footloose Remake
Young actor Chace Crawford will no longer play the role of Ren McCormack in the upcoming remake of Footloose.
The reason for the back out of Crawford is being pointed out to scheduling conflict, though this is not confirmed by Paramount. He is a cast in the popular television series Gossip Girl. The show is resuming shoots this coming July, which is the same schedule that the movie will start filming.
The role would probably be given to an unknown, with a probability for a nationwide search.
Zac Efron was previously offered the role who later dropped out stating that he would like to take a break from musicals. He starred in the first three High School Musical films. Incidentally, Kenny Ortega, director of High School Musical series dropped out also from the project.
The original film was released in 1984 and helped bolster the career of Kevin Bacon who played Ren McCormack. The remake is set to premier in 2011.
