UEFA Champions League: Chelsea vs. FC Porto

Chelsea will meet FC Porto this evening in a Group D tussle of the UEFA Champions League.

The Blues may be the considerably stronger squad, but the lineup that Carlo Ancelotti will use tonight is far from full.

Didier Drogba and Jose Bosingwa will be missing the match because they are banned. Joe Cole, Paulo Ferreira, Alex, Yuri Zhirkov and Deco were also ruled out because of injuries.

Drogba’s prohibition comes after his offensive comments towards the referee in the aftermath of the Blues’ CL exit last season against Barca. As a result, Ancelotti will call on the club’s youngsters with academy stars Sam Hutchinson, Jeffrey Bruma and Fabio Borini.

Porto failed to win at Arsenal and United last season, and the Dragons are hoping to end their losing streak on English soil.

Game time is 8:45 p.m. CET (2:45 p.m. ET).

UPDATE: French striker Nicolas Anelka gave the Blues a winning start to its Champions League campaign by clinching a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Porto at Stamford Bridge.
