Charles Barkley arrested on suspicion of DUI
Charles Barkley, The former NBA star was arrested in Scottsdale, Arizona on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol early Wednesday, December 31.
Lt. Eric Shuhandler of the Gilbert Police Department said that Barkley was pulled over by an officer after he ran a stop sign in Scottdale’s Old Town area.
Charles Barkley failed the standard sobriety test conducted by the officer and arrested him. Barkley declined to take a breath test to measure his blood-alcohol level, Shuhandler said.
“When he arrived at the station, police administered a blood test, which is customary of our police department to do,” he said, adding that Barkley consented to the blood test.
The former NBA star was cooperative, said Shuhandler, and that is customary to release people after they have been arrested on suspicion of DUI.
