Chord Overstreet Out of “Glee”
Someone is moving out of McKinley High.
Reports say Chord Overstreet has not been renewed as a regular on the hit television show “Glee.” According to TV Line, series creator Ryan Murphy has decided not to include Overstreet among the regular cast for the third season of the T.V. musical. The move means that Sam Evans, Overstreet’s character, will no longer be a fixture at McKinley High, the fictional high school used as the setting of the series. However, Overstreet, who joined as a series regular last fall, may be called back to appear as a guest in some episodes.
In a more “Glee-ful” news, Darren Criss and Harry Shum Jr., who play Blaine and Mike, respectively, have been promoted to regulars in the upcoming season, which begins September 20. The casting shakeup came less than a month since Murphy revealed that some of the show’s main stars will be graduating from McKinley High at the end of Season 3. “We didn’t want to have a show where they were in high school for eight years,” he said. “We really wanted to be true to that experience,” Murphy said in June. Among those believed to be graduating are original cast members Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, and Cory Monteith.
