Chris Brown Denied U.K. Visa, British Tour Cancelled
Chris Brown‘s girlfriend-beating past has come to haunt the R&B singer. Brown was forced to postpone a U.K tour after the British government denied his visa request due to his conviction in an assault case regarding his ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
The British government said Brown’s case was the basis for his visa denial and the subsequent cancellation of his tour, which would have begun in Glasgow, Scotland, on Wednesday. The tour would have brought Brown to Birmingham, Manchester, and London over the weekend.
In a statement, the British Home Office said that the government has “the right to refuse entry to the UK to anyone guilty of a serious criminal offense. Public safety is one of our primary concerns. Each application to enter the UK is considered on its individual merits.”
Brown was sentenced to five-year probation and 180 hours of community service after he was convicted in assaulting Rihanna last year.
Fans were advised to hold on to their tickets as the concerts might be rescheduled at later dates.
