Chris Brown pleads not guilty in Rihanna beating case

Reports confirm that Chris Brown pleaded not guilty to threatening and assaulting his girlfriend Rihanna, Monday.
The 19-year-old R&B singer entered his plea, speaking in a soft voice, while standing alongside his lawyer, Mark Geragos. His mother sat in the first row, red-eyed.
Rihanna was represented by her lawyer Donald Etra. Within moments of the hearing, Etra said that his client was hoping a plea deal could be reached before the case goes to trial.
“She would be pleased if this was over quickly,” Etra said. He also reiterated that Rihanna would testify if required.
Court records list Chris Brown’s victim as “Robyn F.” – Rihanna’s real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty.
According to People, legal experts suggest the case will likely end with Brown accepting a plea deal on lesser charges, with anywhere from a jail sentence of 30 to 180 days in addition to three to five years of probation.
If convicted, Brown, 19, faces probation to a maximum four years and eight months in state prison, prosecutors say.
