Christina Aguilera to Sing National Anthem at Super Bowl
Christina Aguilera is coming back to the Super Bowl stage more than ten years since her first appearance on what may be considered the biggest annual sporting event in the United States.
Aguilera has been tapped to sing the national anthem prior to the Super Bowl match between the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers on February 6, the National Football League announced on Monday. “I have been performing the anthem since I was seven years old and I must say the Super Bowl is a dream come true,” Aguilera reportedly said after the announcement according to a Reuters report.
Aguilera, who made her Super Bowl debut in 2000 as a half-time performer, said that it was an honor to again be a part of the sporting event. “I am really excited to be part of such an iconic event.”
This year’s half-time entertainment will be taken care of by the Black Eyed Peas. The Super Bowl is considered one of the most profitable television events in the U.S.
