CNN Fires Rick Sanchez Over Jon Stewart Remarks

Newscaster Rick Sanchez was booted out of CNN on Friday following his tirade against comedian Jon Stewart, whom he called a “bigot” during a radio interview on Sirius XM a day earlier.

Sanchez’s firing came one day after he said on the radio show “Stand Up! With Pete Dominick” that Stewart was intolerant of any opinions that clashed with his “white liberal establishment point of view.” The Cuban-American Sanchez also scoffed at the idea that people in America who are of Jewish roots such as Stewart belong to the minority like Latin-Americans. “He’s such a minority. I mean, you know, please. What are you kidding?” Sanchez said.

In trying to illustrate the power that Stewart has, Sanchez also suggested that even CNN and other networks are controlled by Jews. “I’m telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart. And to imply that somehow they, the people in this country who are Jewish, are an oppressed minority?”

CNN, on the other hand, had a short message for Sanchez on Friday. “We thank Rick for his years of service, and we wish him well,” the network said in a statement.
