Courtney Love Says No to Robert Pattinson as Kurt Cobain

Courtney Love has no problem with Robert Pattinson playing a brooding vampire in the “Twilight” saga films, but as her deceased husband Kurt Cobain, now that is another story. Love has only one word to describe the idea of Pattinson being cast as Cobain–stupid.

Responding to rumors that Pattinson was the leading contender for the lead role in a planned Cobain biopic, Love said: “Isn’t that so stupid, who would cast him? That’s just wrong, no offence.” However, Love said she would not mind having Ryan Gosling or “Wanted” star James McAvoy portraying Cobain.

The Cobain biopic project has been running on and off, and one of the reasons for that is the difficulty in searching for the right person to play the Nirvana front man, who helped propel grunge to unprecedented heights in the 1990s. Cobain’s body was found on April 8, 1994 with a shotgun pointed at his chin and suicide note. An examination by a coroner showed that the musician had been dead for about three days when he was discovered.
