Cristiano Ronaldo Welcomes Baby

Real Madrid star winger Cristiano Ronaldo is now a proud father to a baby boy. The 25-year-old Portuguese star announced on Sunday through social networking sites Facebook and Twitter that he is now a father, but refused to divulge the identity of the boy’s mother.

Ronaldo said he will have “exclusive guardianship” of the baby, whose mother is believed to be an American woman. Portuguese media reported that Ronaldo’s mother and sisters will help raise the child. The football star is now processing the papers needed to bring the child to Portugal from America, the Correio de Manha reported.

The news was also welcomed by Ronaldo’s current girlfriend, model Irina Shayk, who proudly wrote on her Facebook page that her “boyfriend is now father of a boy.” The former Manchester United player said no other information would be released about his son or the mother of the baby, even as he asked people to respect his and the baby’s privacy.

Ronaldo skippered the Portugal team at the ongoing World Cup, but they were booted out in the quarterfinals by Spain on Tuesday.
