CSI Season 12: Ted Danson Tapped as Laurence Fishburne Replacement
Ted Danson is taking over from Laurence Fishburne as one of the leads on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, beginning with the CBS series’s 12th Season, which starts this September.
CBS announced Danson’s entry as the new CSI supervisor on Tuesday. According to a statement released by the network, the 63-year-old veteran actor will play a character who “comes to the team as they are still grappling with the professional and personal fallout from last season’s take-down of serial killer, Nate Haskell.” CSI executive producer Don McGill told Usweekly that Danson, who starred on TV’s “Cheers” and “Becker” among others, had been the top choice ever since they began looking for Fishburne’s replacement. “From the moment we all started talking about the role, it was clear he couldn’t be more perfect,” McGill said. “Intelligence, wit, warmth, depth of character and emotion, he brings it all. And now he’ll have to bring latex gloves, too.”
Fishburne, who played the character Dr. Raymond Langston for two-and-a-half seasons, announced earlier this year that he would not be returning for the 12th season of the long-running show. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Season 12 will premiere on September 21.
