Dakota Fanning is a great actress. I think she was a great pick for Jane. If she didn't get the part I would think that Evan Rachel Wood or Sara Paxton would have been good also.

Dakota can play any role she sets her mind to do,she has always played age appropriate,and now she breaking out. Now she will show all what's in the future of fanning fame.

Not into the whole Twilight thing, but it's quite a different matter for Dakota than it was for Kirsten. Claudia was pretty much the role that broke Kristen, and Dakota's quite a bit older, even for still being a “child” actress, and we've seen her in several roles already. Probably would'nt hurt her career that much.

i strongly disagree with ekaterina one hundred percent.
dakota fanning is a wonderful actress with more talent than anyone i've seen in a while. she plays soft, sweet roles but she is so full of suprises. look at her role in hounddog. phenominal. you, personally, have no right to degrade her in any way and especially buy saying that she is not pretty. who are you to judge?

i personally think she will be perfect at Jane, you might be suprised… i mean who can see bella as a vampire we all know its going to happen but can you picture it? lol Jane uses her thoughts and has that smile i think she'll be great and i think she is a very pretty girl and i mean for those ppl who think otherwise movie make-up can make any one beautiful…

That would be so bad if they will put Dakota as Jane…. I mean i have nothing against her, she is a good actress, but she doesn't look like Jane at all!! She doesn't have that childish-angel-like face and she is not that pretty.. all vampires suppose to be pretty right? So why don't they put someone who is actually pretty and who actually deserves a role… They picked a cast of mid-famous actors why don't they just give some other not famous girl a shot, a try to play Jane? Maybe she will do a lot better then Dakota. I mean there is a lot of young, pretty girl-actresses out there who would die for that role. Why don't give them a chance?

I don't think Dakota is cut out for it, i mean she is a great actor but i personally think she plays better as nice ppl not angry, mean person that tries to kill others of her kind, no offence to Dakota but i think she wont be as good as everyone else since they all are like there character in the movie.
if she actually does get it i hope she suprises me like in other movies she was in.

i think dakota will do fine w/ playing as jane.
she just has to act a little more snotty and mean.
i mean really, janes power is to make a strong illusion of you in terrible pain. you only THINK you are being hurt.
