Confederations Cup: Daniel Alves free-kick goal vs. South Africa (video)
A brilliant free-kick from Daniel Alves with just two minutes left at the Confederations Cup on Thursday sent Brazil into the final and left host nation South Africa dejected.
The FC Barcelona right-back, who had only been on the field for six minutes, smashed in a powerful 18-yard set-piece from the left to stun the huge crowd at the Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg.
The five-time world champions now face the United States in Sunday’s final while South Africa meet Spain in the third-place match in Rustenburg the same day.
The championship will be a rematch of last week’s game in group play, when Brazil crushed the U.S. 3-0.
