Thailand’s ex-Prime Minister found guilty of corruption

Bangkok, Thailand – A court in Thailand sentenced former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra guilty of corruption. He was sentenced 2 years imprisonment and was handed down in absentia because Shinawatra is currently in United Kingdom.
Thaksin, 59, filed bail and fled to Britain two months ago along with his wife, Pojaman, 51, who was also charged. The Thailand Supreme Court acquitted her.
The case was started from a Bangkok land arrangement while Thaksin was in power. He was convicted of violating a law that forbids ministers or their wives from doing business …

Madonna’s friends are sharing stuff about her recent divorce, and we’re sure Guy’s ex loves that!
The actress told AP that she’s supporting the pop star “in all ways” after her divorce with filmmaker Guy Ritchie.

Motorola plans to launch Android Social Smart Phone in 2009

Motorola is getting ready to release a new smart phone based on G1’s Android phone that will support Gmail and Youtube but will focus on social networking features such as Facebook and MySpace according to BusinessWeek.
Motorola’s version of the android will also feature an iPhone-like touch screen and a slide-out “QWERTY” keyboard just like the G1 Android Phone or BlackBerry’s Storm.

Taliban execute dozens in surprise attack

Afghan officials say Taliban rebels have pulled some 50 commuters off a bus and killed about 30 of them.
The police chief of Kandahar Province, where the attack took place, said that of six bodies retrieved so far, all had been beheaded and mutilated. The police had collected information that 24 others had been executed but had yet to find the bodies.

Deron Williams sprains left ankle

Utah Jazz point guard Deron Williams left the pre-season game Saturday night against Chicago Bulls in the first quarter after spraining his left ankle.
The accident happened when Williams attempted a 3-point shot with 5:39 left on the clock and landed awkwardly on Derrick Rose’s foot. Deron was carried off the hard court by Miles and Ronnie Brewer and headed to the locker room.

Kobe Bryant: I feel fantastic

Phil Jackson suggested earlier this week that Kobe still needs some legwork after a hectic summer. The Lakers superstar presented a credible 27-minute rebuttal that seemed to prove he’s just all right.
Bryant led his team to a 108-104 victory over Spanish power FC Barcelona as part of two-day exhibition tournament. He scored a team-high 28 points on 10-for-14 shooting and then poked some fun on Jackson.
