With reverberating sonic booms, the Space Shuttle Endeavour has returned to Earth after an eventful assignment to fix parts of the International Space Station (ISS), BBC news reported on its website.
Navy Capt. Christopher J. Ferguson, the shuttle commander, skillfully guided Endeavour to a safe touch down Sunday at California’s Edwards Air Force Base.
The original plan was to land the orbiter at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, but because of storms that brought high winds, NASA ordered the astronauts to take a detour and land in sunny California.

Sanchez, 35, and Winter, 32, tied the knot in San Cristobal fort in San Juan before 250 guests, including Eva Longoria Parker.
The Puerto Rican-born Roselyn wore a princess-style dress with hand-embroidered pearls and diamonds by Venezuelan designer Angel Sanchez, while Eric wore a Calvin Klein suit.

Surprising reports last week was the buzz that Nokia has decided stop making phones for the Japan market, the largest in the world.
The world’s largest cell phone maker declared Thursday that it would stop producing cell phones for NTT DoCoMo and Softbank Mobile, but will continue making its Vertu brand, according to a report by Reuters.
Nokia Executive VP Timo Ihamuotil was quoted saying “”In the current global economic climate, we have concluded that the continuation of our investment in Japan-specific localized products is no longer sustainable.”

In a recent report published Saturday by the Times Online, Microsoft is in talks to acquire Yahoo’s online search business for $20 billion.
According to John Waples, Microsoft will not get the whole of Yahoo, but the “complex” deal would let Microsoft partake in the company’s management structure and get hold of 30 percent of Yahoo overall.
That has obviously been Microsoft’s target — to hit a search deal with Yahoo, increasing its market muscle against Google without all the complexities of a total acquisition.

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil—Weather forecasters are warning of more rain as Brazil reels from destructive floods caused by heavy rains this week.
Search and rescue officials found nine bodies Saturday, bringing the death toll to 109, CNN reported on its website.
Volunteers and troops were rushing to give out medicine, food, water and clothes to people in southern Brazil.

New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress, accidentally shot himself in the leg at a night club Friday night, FOXSports.com reported.
Burress, 31, spent the evening in the hospital with the injuries, which aren’t life threatening, the Web site said.
A spokesman for the Giants on Saturday told PA SportsTicker that the team had no comment, although they acknowledged they are aware there was an incident.
Burress had already been ruled out of Sunday’s game against Washington Redskins after aggravating a hamstring injury last week in the game against the Arizona Cardinals.
