KSA: No asylum for Taliban leader

The Saudi government on Saturday denied information that it has offered political refuge to Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar.
A foreign ministry spokesman “denies totally the report … according to which Saudi Arabia has offered political asylum to the Taliban leader,” the state news agency SPA reported.
The German news magazine Der Spiegel, in its edition due to appear on Monday, said Saudi King Abdullah had offered asylum to Mullah Omar, quoting sources close to the Kabul government.

Here comes YouTube Live

YouTube will be showcasing its first live stream as it broadcasts its YouTube Live celebration today (Nov. 22) in San Francisco.
The show will be streamed on YouTube beginning at 5 PM PST, and will feature well known stars such as Katy Perry, Will.i.Am, Joe Satriani, Tay Zonday, and a number of other musicians.

Twilight gathered $7 million at its initial midnight offering

“Twilight” conquered the box office on its first day out! Reuters reports that the teen vampire movie gathered over $7 million dollars at its initial midnight offering. With those kinds of numbers it can easily have an opening weekend that surpasses $70 million.
Like “Harry Potter,” “Twilight” is expected to become a huge franchise. Midnight screenings of the film are among nearly 2,000 shows across the United States that have been sold out, putting the film on course for a blockbuster opening weekend in North America.

Iraqi protesters burn Bush effigy in anti-US rally

Supporters of radical Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr demonstrated Friday against an accord that would extend the U.S. military presence in Iraq, shouting “America out!” and burning an effigy of President Bush.
People began arriving at central Baghdad’s Firdos Square just after sunrise, some having walked for hours across the capital.
Removing the hood to beat the effigy with a shoe, a particularly deep Iraqi insult, they put a whip in its right hand and in its left a briefcase on which was written, “The security agreement is shame and dishonor.”

The Atlantis stages most expensive launch party in history

The opening of Dubai’s hottest luxury resort, The Atlantis turned out to be the most expensive launch party in history. Hollywood celebrities and business tycoons attended the ceremony with a performance by Kylie Minogue.
One million fireworks – almost 10 times the scale of the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony – lit up the Palm.

Fourth Bourne movie coming in 2010

Universal Pictures signed Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass for a fourth Bourne film that George Nolfi is penning. The film will be readied for a summer 2010 release.
There’s the question of what the superspy would do in a fourth film. Robert Ludlum wrote only three Bourne books before he died, in 2001, and then Eric Van Lustbader put out the next two.

Sarah Palin and the turkey back drop

Upon pardoning a turkey, the former vice-presidential candidate  Sarah Palin did a live interview with a worker from the Turkey Farm slaughtering a turkey as her back drop.
According to reports Sarah Palin was advised about what was going on behind her, but she replies “No worries”.
As the Alaska governor spoke to a reporter about serious issues, she was totally oblivious that a worker was slaughtering a turkey behind her! For more than three minutes, Palin spoke about the campaign trail and her plans for boosting up Alaska’s economy.

Michael Jackson converts to Islam with new name Mikaeel

Michael is now a Muslim with new name: Mikaeel
“Former” pop superstar Michael Jackson converts to Islam and changed his name to Mikaeel the sun reports.
Michael or Mikaeel was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness, said to have sat on the floor and worn a small hat while an imam officiated at the home of Steve Porcaro, composer from his Thriller album.
Jackson is said to have been encouraged by David Wharnsby, a canadian songwriter and Phillip Bubal, a producer, who both approached him after they spotted him looking ‘a bit down’.

The pygmy tarsier is not extinct

The pygmy tarsiers were found on mountainsides above 6,000 feet (1,800 meters) in elevation, amid damp, dangerous terrain. “I actually broke my fibula walking around there,” Texas A&M University anthropologist and expedition leader Sharon Gursky-Doyen said.
