Authorities have arrested more than 170 people around the globe, including at least 61 in the United States on charges they were part of a worldwide network of child pornographers, officials said Friday.
According to CNN, 11 girls in the U.S. and dozens more in Europe were rescued in a joint effort between European and American agents called Operation Join Hammer.
The children were believed sexually molested by child pornography producers.

Two Hong Kong Airlines pilots have been dismissed after trying to take off from a taxiway rather than the main runway at the city’s airport.
According to the Taipei Times, the pair, an Indonesian captain and Argentinian co-pilot, were only stopped by a watchful air traffic controller who noticed them speeding on the taxiway and advised them to stop.
The Boeing 737 was carrying 122 passengers, the report said.

BAGHDAD–Just weeks before he leaves office, U.S. President George W. Bush made an unscheduled farewell visit to Iraq on Sunday.
Air Force One landed at Baghdad international airport for a visit that the White House said was for Bush to thank US troops, meet Iraqi officials and celebrate a new security pact.
The president was accompanied by his national security adviser Stephen Hadley and spokeswoman Dana Perino.

On Saturday, Kseniya Sukhinova from Russia won the Miss World 2008 pageant held in South Africa.
Trindad and Tobago’s Gabrielle Walcott was second runner-up and India’s Parvathay Omanakuttan was first runner-up, from among 109 contestants.

Never before in NBA history have coaches fallen this early in the season in such numbers. Now, Maurice Cheeks became the NBA’s fifth coaching casualty of the season. On Saturday, Cheeks was fired as head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers.
With the off-season acquisition of Elton Brand, the 2008-09 season was supposed to be a good one for the Sixers. Unfortunately, it hasn’t played out that way to date.
