“Dead” Man Comes Alive, Scares Morgue Workers
Forget what you see in movies and on television. This one’s a true story of a man who literally rose from the dead. Or so it seems.
According to South Africa’s Sapa News Agency, the man was brought to a mortuary in the small town of Libode in the Eastern Cape after his family though he had died. Health spokesman Sizwe Kupelo told the news agency that the 50-year-old man was brought to the morgue on Saturday only to wake up in the afternoon the next day. The man was shocked to wake up in the called morgue and began screaming, scaring two mortuary workers who thought they encountered a ghost, the report said.
The man was eventually fetched by an ambulance and brought back to his home, but not after he was “exposed to extreme cold for nearly 24 hours.” The misunderstanding apparently occurred when the man’s family immediately called up the mortuary instead of bringing him to a doctor to ascertain his condition. “Doctors, emergency workers and the police are the only people who have a right to examine the patients and determine if they are dead or not,” Kupelo said.
