DMX Starts 90-Day Sentence

DMX is back in jail. The rapper, who has been in and out of jail the past several years, surrendered to a Los Angeles judge on Monday to start his 90-day sentence after a court ruled out any alternative penalties such as electronic monitoring, work release, or home detention.

DMX was supposed to start his sentence in March for violating his probation for a 2002 reckless driving case, but he did not report to court, forcing the judge to revoke his $100,000 bail. The prison sentence comes less than a month since he was released from jail for violating drug probation. He served four out of the six-month sentence for the drug case in an Arizona jail.

In 2009, the 39-year-old DMX, or Earl Simmons, had thought of entering ministry to become a preacher, but changed his mind after being convinced by fellow rapper Mase to continue doing rap while waiting for his calling.
