Earth Hour was a Big Success!
For the environmentalists around the world, the recently concluded “Earth Hour” was a big success!
“The world said yes to climate action, now governments must follow,” the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) said.
According to reports, more than 2,800 cities worldwide participated in Earth Hour by turning of the lights for an hour. The rule is simple: Turn of the lights at 8:30PM local time, wherever you live on planet earth. Saturday 28 March 2009
“Earth Hour has always been a positive campaign,” said Earth Hour executive director Andy Ridley. “It’s always around street parties, not street protests; it’s the idea of hope, not despair. And I think that’s something that’s been incredibly important this year because there is so much despair around.”
Earth Hour originated in Sydney 2 years ago, and since then the rest of the world followed.
