Ellen DeGeneres quits American Idol

It looks like there will be two new faces in the judges’ panel over at American Idol.

Fox has confirmed that Ellen DeGeneres quit as Idol judge, after serving for only one season. Ellen had sat on the judging booth last season with Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Kara DioGuardi. She has served as a replacement for Paula Abdul.

In a statement published at Usmagazine.com, Ellen had said: “A couple months ago, I let FOX and the American Idol producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me. I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next.”

Ellen had also stated that the work schedule was one of the reasons why quit Idol. This is in addition to the fact that she feels somewhat uncomfortable in judging the talent of other people and in a way hurting their feelings.

This is the second vacancy on the judge’s panel on the singing competition. Simon Cowell also announced last season that he will no longer serve as a judge.

Ellen however promised that she will continue to be a “huge fan of the show.”
