Singer Elton John said that he is helping rapper Eminem battle his drug problems during the last 18 months.

“He’s doing brilliantly” said John to BBC Radio 5. John, or should we say, Sir Elton also battled drugs and alcohol during his career. He has been sober since the 1980s. He was knighted by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1998.

The knight however did not elaborate the details regarding the help he is giving to Eminem. Eminem has entered a rehab in 2005 for sleeping pills addiction and went out on a three-year hiatus. Last May, he admitted drug addiction to Vicodin, Ambien and Valium, drinking between 10 to 20 in a day. He was also nearly overdosed by methadone, a heroine substitute.

“It’s no secret I had a drug problem,” Eminem told Vibe magazine. “The numbers got so high, I don’t even know what I was taking.

Sir Elton has helped other celebrity addicts in the past, including the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
