A pile of hair believed to have been trimmed from Elvis Presley’s head when he joined the U.S. Army has sold for $15,000 at an auction of memorabilia collected by a devoted fan.
The King’s hair was among the 150 Elvis-related items sold Sunday at the Leslie Hindman Auctioneers in Chicago.
A fan bought a white shirt with “EP” emblazoned on the chest for $52,000 and a $28,000 red Ultrasuede shirt Presley wore for a photo shoot, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Other items included records, cards, photographs and a telegram. Wedding pictures of Elvis and wife Priscilla were sold for nearly $4,000.
The collection belonged to former Presley fan club president Gary Pepper who died in 1980.
