England FA Retains Capello
Fabio Capello will continue to lead England’s national football team. The English FA announced on Friday that its board has unanimously voted to keep Capello as England manager and lead efforts to rebuild the team.
Capello had expressed his desire to continue as England manager despite the Three Lions’ embarrassing 4-1 loss in the round of 16 to arch-rivals Germany at the ongoing World Cup. With the FA’s vote of confidence, Capello said he is “more determined than ever to succeed with the England team.”
Capello said he would immediately go to work and prepare the team for upcoming European qualifying fixtures, as well as a scheduled friendly with Hungary next month. The 64-year-old Italian manager also said that he would want to infuse new blood into the team. “We will look to introduce new players to give the team new energy and I will use all my experience to take England forward.”
