Meet 36-year-old Erika La Tour Eiffel, a former US Army soldier from San Francisco—the woman who married the Eiffel Tower.

A former world champion in archery, she believes her affection for Lance, a bow, propelled her success in the sport. After that, she fell in love with the Golden Gate Bridge and the Berlin Wall.

Apparently, things didn’t work out with the bow, the bridge and the wall, so she has decided to marry the iron monument in Paris. She even changed her name legally to reflect the bond!

“There is a huge problem with being in love with a public object,” she told The Independent last year. “The issue of intimacy – or rather lack of it – is forever present.”

This is the bizarre world of the “objectum sexual” (OS) – a group of people, mostly women, whose private lives revolve around objects with which they say they share romantic and sexual love.

There are around 40 people in the world who have declared themselves OS, all of them women and most of them also suffer from Asperger’s Syndrome.

Is this for real ? It's a given that we all admire the Eiffel tower, especially in it's full glory at night with the twinkling lights, but this is perhaps a tad too far ?

I believe its real. It's weird but there are people who are really “objectum sexual”.
