Soul and R&B legend Etta James unleashed a verbal attack on Beyonce Knowles, accusing her of ‘stealing‘ her songs and threatening to ‘whip her a**‘.

The 71-year-old singer is steaming mad over Beyonce’s performance of “At Last,” her signature song, at President Obama’s inauguration party at the Neighborhood Ball in Washington, D.C.

Why was she so angry? She wasn’t the first to record it anyway!

According to Wikipedia, “At Last” was written two decades before Etta recorded it, and it was first recorded by Glenn Miller and his orchestra, with Ray Eberle and Pat Friday.

During the show, she criticized Beyonce’s performance. “You guys know your president, right? You know the one with the big ears?” she told a Seattle crowd. “Wait a minute, he ain’t my president. He might be yours; he ain’t my president. But I tell you that woman he had singing for him, singing my song — she’s going to get her a** whipped.”

Beyonce portrayed James in the film “Cadillac Records” last year.

I wish Beyonce had sung a different song at that event. Either that or ask Miss James to sing the song. It's disrespectful to an artist of her stature to have a younger singer to her song. The people organizing the even ought to have considered how it would have made Etta James feel.
