F1 Malaysian Grand Prix: Sebastian Vettel Takes Race

This time, no mechanical problem was going to stop Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull from taking his first win in the new F1 season. Vettel, who was denied a win in Bahrain and Australia due to mechanical troubles, took the lead after the first corner and held off teammate Mark Webber the rest of the way, en route to the victory in the Malaysian Grand Prix and the full 25 points that pushed his total to 37.

Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg got his first podium finish of the season, as he came in 13.5 seconds behind Vettel for third place. Robert Kubica of Renault and Adrian Sutil of Force India rounded out the top five in Sepang, which was spared of an expected rain.

Lewis Hamilton and defending champion Jenson Button failed to sustain McLaren’s streak of having at least one of its two drivers on the podium, as they finished sixth and eighth, respectively. Ferrari’s Felipe Massa came in seventh spot. Massa now leads the Driver’s championship after three races with 39 points followed by his teammate Fernando Alonso and Vettel.
