Facebook Lite, the lightweight and cleaner version of Facebook was launched internationally on Friday following its debut in the U.S. Thursday night.

You can try Facebook Lite by going to lite.facebook.com, and you will be prompted by this image:

The fastest way to keep in touch.

Facebook Lite makes it easy to share your life with your friends and family.

The new version looks nice and clean but it looks a lot like FriendFeed to me. They did not buy FriendFeed for nothing right?

If you want your Facebook with less clutter, then the lite version is for you.

Facebook is for connecting with people you know.

Twitter is used for connecting with people and businesses and organizations you may or may not know.

I follow hundreds of people and businesses I don't know on Twitter.

But on Facebook…I only use it to connect to people I already know.

2 different websites for 2 different reasons.

It appears that Facebook does not understand the real BIG differences in how people use the 2 websites.

Foolish for Facebook to try to be Twitter…when the same people now use both websites for 2 very different reasons.

Facebook needs to quit trying to be Twitter.
