Oscar-nominated film-maker David Fincher (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Fight Club) is in “advanced talks” to sign on to direct the upcoming Facebook movie, according to a report from Variety.

The film, tentatively titled The Social Network, is based on Ben Mezrich‘s new book, The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, a Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal. The script is written by Aaron Sorkin, best known for TV series The West Wing and movies including The American President and A Few Good Men.

Variety reported that the movie would focus on the evolution of the social networking site from its creation in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg into a global phenomenon with more than 200 million members.

According to CNET News, both Shia LaBeouf and Michael Cera are being considered to play Zuckerberg in the film.

Now, I definitely don't see how this will work out. And I can't seem to shrug off the notion that this is another one of those instances where you just wring more cash out of an already overflowing cash cow.

The title is too long. Good director & actors, though. It sould be interesting.
