Fans Await Midnight Release of ‘StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty’
After twelve years of waiting, hardcore fans of the military science fiction real-time strategy video game Starcraft will finally be able to get their hands on a copy of its sequel Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty.
To date, the video game developed by Blizzard Entertainment, already has pre-order sales of 800,000 units. Forecasts said that a million units will be sold in the Americas and two million copies worldwide on its first week of release. Around seven million units are expected to have been bought by players by the time the year ends.
The game is not released on multi-platform. It is available only for the Microsoft Windows and the Mac OS X.
Retailers, including GameStop, in the United States will be open at midnight Tuesday, July 27, for those who can’t wait a minute more to get a copy of the game. The game costs around $59.99 before tax. It has two expansions: Hearts of Swarm and Legacy of the Void.
The plot of the game is set in the 26th century in a distant part of the Milky Way galaxy four years after the events of StarCraft: Brood War. It will follow the exploits of Jim Raynor as he leads an insurgent group against the autocratic Terran Dominion. The game will include old characters from the original game, as well as introduce new characters and locations to the franchise.
