Farrah Fawcett dies of cancer at 62
Farrah Fawcett has died after a three-year battle with anal cancer. She was 62.
The iconic Charlie’s Angels actress passed away at 9:28 AM on Thursday at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, California. She was diagnosed with anal cancer in late 2006 and traveled to Germany in 2007 for alternative treatments.
The former University of Texas sorority girl waged a very public battle against the disease, documenting her fight in Farrah’s Story, which aired in May on NBC.
Just days before her death, longtime companion Ryan O’Neal said he hoped she would hang on long enough for them to wed.
“I’ve asked her to marry me, again, and she’s agreed,” O’Neal, 68, told Barbara Walters in a “20/20” interview.
Walters’ interview with O’Neal airs tonight on ABC.
