Fernando Alonso Wins F1 Bahrain Grand Prix
Fernando Alonso took advantage of Sebastian Vettel‘s exhaust problems to win the Bahrain Grand Prix and take the early lead in this year’s F1 season. Alonso of Ferrari trailed Vettel and his Red Bull for most of the race. However, Vettel, who started on pole, lost power due to exhaust problem, allowing Alonso to pass him on the 34th lap.
Alonso’s teammate Felipe Massa finished second, proving that Ferrari is one of the favorites to take the Constructors title this year. Lewis Hamilton salvaged third place while Vettel eventually settled for fourth spot.
Michael Schumacher showed his best form yet since coming out of retirement but his Mercedes GP could not match the speed of the Ferraris. He finished sixth just below teammate Nico Rosberg. Defending world champion Jenson Button was a spot below.
Alonso called his first race win with Ferrari a “very special day.”There is no better way to start the relationship. It’s the best team in the world.”
