Fiesta Bowl 2010: Boise State Broncos vs. TCU Horned Frogs

Two of the best teams at the Football Bowl Subdivision will collide in this year’s edition of the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, as the Boise State Broncos (13-0) take on the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs (12-0) in Glendale, Arizona.

A lot of college football enthusiasts were unhappy when this matchup was announced because they felt the two sides were being patted on the head and totally marginalized.

However, unlike many of the non-title BCS bowls, this one has a fascinating storyline, and it goes beyond whether the Frogs’ rugged defense can shut down the Broncos’ fast-paced offense.

Meanwhile Austin Pettis is expected to play this evening. The Broncos wideout currently has 14 touchdown catches this season and has promptly emerged as one of the nation’s top red-zone threats.

Boise State finished its second consecutive unbeaten term, and got the first at-large berth for a non-BCS school. Quarterback Kellen Moore has led the way, throwing for 3,325 yards and 39 touchdowns, with only three interceptions.

The match kicks-off at 8:00 p.m. ET.

The Fiesta Bowl is a college football bowl game played annually at the University of Phoenix Stadium. In 1998, it became part of the BCS and before 2007 every four years was the designee for the national championship game.

UPDATE: The Frogs’ bid for an undefeated season ended as Boise State defeated TCU, 17-10.
