Filipino rap icon Francis Magalona dead at 44

Multi-awarded Filipino rap icon Francis Magalona died Friday at the Medical City hospital in Mandaluyong City, Philippines. He was 44.
This was announced by actor Vic Sotto in the noontime variety show Eat Bulaga, where Magalona used to be one of the hosts.
Magalona, also know as Francis M., battled cancer for almost eight months before finally passing away.
He was a prominent “Pinoy” rapper, songwriter, producer, actor, director, and photographer. He is credited as being the first Filipino rapper in the Philippines to successfully crossover to the mainstream.
He is survived by his wife Pia Arroyo and children Unna, Nicolo, Francis Jr., Elmo, Arkin, Clara, and actresses Maxene and Saab.
