iPad International Release Dates Announced
Apple announced from its website the release date of iPad for the first set of countries outside the United States.
The following nine countries can already have their devices by May 28: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Pre-order for these areas will start May 10. Both the wi-fi only and 3G versions will be available on the same date.
Meanwhile, a July release is being forecasted for Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore. Specific date, local pricing and pre-order plans will be announced later.
The iPad, a 9.7 inch touchscreen tablet computer, was released in the US last April 3. Currently, around 1 million units have been sold. Analysts are predicting that about 5 million units will be sold this year alone.
The international sales were originally slated for late April, but the high demand in US prompted the delay.
