Aside from the delicious food and the wonderful presents, one of the things I look forward to during the holiday season is the succession of great, entertaining Christmas-themed movies that pop on television or on my player. Among them are established, inspirational classics such as It’s a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street and A Charlie Brown Christmas. Then there are also the hilariously joyous ones like Elf, Bad Santa and, of course, Home Alone.

Home Alone, directed by Chris Columbus (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Mrs. Doubtfire) written by John Hughes (The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) and starring a young and adorable Macaulay Culkin, has become a Christmas staple since its release almost two decades ago. It’s a classic family film–sans the family, that is.

Now, you might remember that within the past two decades, this little thing we like to call Twitter came to being. So it’s only a matter of time really before someone thinks of the clever idea of melding the microblogging ease of Twitter and the slapstick fun of Home Alone together, ultimately coming up with a Twitter page where people can read updates from the characters from the film in real-time, as though the events in the film were actually happening!
