Fusion-io and Memory Champion Nelson Dellis Scale Mount Everest in Climb for Memory
Fusion-io and Memory Champion Nelson Dellis are about to Scale Mount Everest in Climb for Memory. Fusion-io helps to scale the challenges in datacenters and Nelson Dellis will be taking on the difficult task of conquering Mount Everest. He’s doing it in support for his charity, Climb For Memory.
Climb For Memory charity was founded in early 2010 by Dellis, soon after his granmother had passed away. His grandmother had been suffering from Alzheimer’s and Climb For Memory charity is meant to raise awareness as well as funds for Alzheimer’s disease by climbing mountains all over the globe. With the passing of his grandmother Dellis started training his memory and today he holds a number of U.S. memory records. He has managed to memorize 303 digits in five minutes and a shuffled deck of playing cards in 63 seconds.
This time Dellis will be attempting to climb the 29,029-foot mountain that’s also known as Chomolungma or Sagarmatha for the second time. The last attempt in 2011 ended 280 feet short of the summit due to an oxygen tank malfunction. During the climb he will be testing himself on memory tasks and as he reaches each base camp similar challenges together with memory training videos are also posted at www.fusionio.com/memorychallenge.
