Gaiman’s ‘Coraline’ gets a 3-D twist
“Coraline“, the film adaptation of the 2002 fantasy novel by Neil Gaiman hits theaters today (February 6, 2009).
Just like the book, the movie got some enthusiastic reviews from critics around the US, and according to the L.A. Times, “Coraline could be the first Oscar contender of the year”.
Directed by Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas), Coraline is a modern fairy tale about a bored 11-year-old girl who has just moved with her parents from Michigan to a creepy old house in Oregon. One day, she discovers a mysterious passageway into a parallel universe much like her own—only a lot better.
Featuring the voices of Dakota Fanning, Teri Hatcher, Keith David, John Hodgman and Robert Bailey Jr., the film is an extraordinary feat of imagination, a magical story with a genuinely sinister edge.
