Getting down and dirty at Daecheon Beach

Hundreds of people were hospitalized for the skin disease they contracted after getting down and dirty at the 2009 Boryeong Mud Festival in South Korea.

According to the City Administration, around 200 out of 1,500 festival-goers were infected with some kinds of skin inflammations while they were undergoing mud baths in the pre-Mud Festival events.

The participants, including many foreigners, are still being treated with various symptoms coming from dermatitis.

The Boryeong Mud Festival, held at  Daecheon Beach in South Chungcheong Province, is probably the biggest beach party in Korea. Under bright sunny skies, you can enjoy the huge mud slide, compete in the mud wrestling contest and enjoy many other activities like escaping mud prison as well the ultimate, a mud bath.
