Gigantic man-made rainbow to be erected by Sony
Can you imagine a man-made rainbow that is 94 feet high? Well, Sony Pictures is in the process of erecting a massive rainbow sculpture made from a welded steel truss in order to give Culver City, California a hefty splash of color.
The structure, designed by artist Tony Tasset, is going to cost around $1.5 million and represent “the sense of optimism and well-being associated with rainbows in general and more specifically with the rainbow in popular culture as imagined in the iconic Wizard of Oz film” (which was filmed there).
The fake rainbow is expected to attract a large number of tourists, “and will be visible 24/7 to both pedestrians and drivers on the north side of the Sony lot.”
