2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup Quarterfinals: Mexico vs. Haiti
Mexico will try to advance to the semifinal round of the Gold Cup when they meet Haiti. Despite topping their group to qualify for the quarterfinals, the Mexicans have failed to impress greatly in the tournament so far.
Soccer analysts say that “El Tri” hasn’t played to its potential. Some Mexican players say most of the pressure is coming from the media, which they consider their most annoying distraction off the field.
The two teams will be heading to Texas tonight for their quarterfinal match. The venue is at the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium—the grandiose arena that totaled $1.1 billion in construction costs.
The match kicks-off at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
UPDATE: Miguel Sabah scored twice, Giovani dos Santos sent in another and Pablo Barrera added one as Mexico thrashed Haiti 4-0 to advance to the Gold Cup semifinals.
