CONCACAF Gold Cup 2009: USA vs. Honduras
Benny Feilhaber has joined the United States soccer team for tonight’s match against Honduras in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The Brazilian-born midfielder, who plays for AGF Aarhus in the Danish Superliga, was among seven players added to the squad when the tournament allowed the U.S. to expand its roster from 23 to 30 because of the close time proximity between the Confederations Cup and the Gold Cup.
Both teams have won their opening matches on Saturday and are currently tied atop of Group B. Grenada was overpowered by the United States 4-0, while Haiti went down as Honduras edged them 1-0.
Game time is 9 p.m. EDT at the RFK Stadium in Washington DC.
UPDATE: Second-half goals from Santino Quaranta and Brian Ching lifted the United States to a 2-0 victory over Honduras in their Gold Cup match at RFK Stadium. Quaranta scored his first international goal in the 75th minute, while Ching added a second tally four minutes later, putting the team on top of Group B.
