Goldberg Expresses Opinion over Gibson Racism Issue
Whoopi Goldberg somewhat defended Mel Gibson insisting that he is not a racist otherwise why would the actor-turned-director maintain his friendship with her.
Speaking from the show The View in which the comedian is one of the hosts, Academy Award winner Goldberg declared that she did not like what happened but she believes that Gibson is being more of a bonehead rather than a racist.
“I have had a long friendship with Mel. You can say he’s being a bonehead, but I can’t say he’s a racist having spent time with him in my house with my kids. Make no mistake (he’s not a racist),” she further explained.
She insists that she does not approve the behavior of Gibson, if it is proven that it is really him. She is only expressing what she believes and knows. “I’m not defending Mel, I’m simply saying that… I don’t see him as that (a racist) because that’s not my experience with him.”
Gibson, also an Academy Award winner, is accused of being the voice behind a tape where a racial slur can be heard. He is currently under investigation for domestic violence against former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, a Russian singer.
