Google doodle honors Hans Christian Andersen
Google is today commemorating the 205th birthday of Hans Christian Andersen, the author and poet noted for his children’s stories such as The Snow Queen, The Little Mermaid, Thumbelina and The Ugly Duckling. He was born on April 2nd, 1805 in Odense, Denmark.
To honor him, the search engine’s logo has been changed into five different doodles illustrating scenes from Thumbelina, arguably the most famous tale Andersen ever wrote.
Andersen’ poetry and stories have been translated into more than 150 languages and inspired motion pictures, plays, and animated films. In Copenhagen, there is a statue of The Little Mermaid that was placed there in honor of the Danish literary genus.
Here’s a compilation of all of the Google doodles celebrating Andersen.
