Gordon-Levitt, Cotillard “Dark Knight Rises” Roles Confirmed
Warner Bros. has finally unveiled the mystery surrounding the roles to be played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard in director Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.”
In a press release, the studio said that Gordon-Levitt, who collaborated with Nolan in last year’s “Inception,” will not play the role of crime organization heir Albert Marcone as earlier speculated. Instead, Gordon-Levitt would play a Gotham City cop named John Blake. “Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon,” the press release read.
Warner also announced in the press release that “Inception” star Cotillard will also join “The Dark Knight Rises,” which is supposed to be Nolan’s last “Batman” film as a director. Cotillard, according to the studio, has been cast as Miranda Tate, a “Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham.”
Gordon-Levitt and Cotillard are not the only “Inception” stars who are collaborating with Nolan anew. Tom Hardy, who also appeared in “Inception,” was earlier cast as the villain Bane. Christian Bale will return to play the Caped-Crusader again while Anne Hathaway will play Catwoman and her alter-ego Selena Kyle.
