With death toll at more than 700, the 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Chile is certainly one of the most devastating quakes in history.
It shows in the graphic representation pictured above from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), how the massive amount of energy (66.6 exajoules) spread throughout the pacific region.
