Green Day Frontman Kicked Off Plane Over Saggy Pants

Green Day vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong has become the latest celebrity to be kicked off a plane.

According to reports, the 39-year-old rocker was removed from a Burbank-bound Southwest Airlines plane on Thursday when a flight attendant took issue of Armstrong’s saggy pants. Cindy Qiu, an associate producer at Bay Area based KGO-TV, witnessed the incident, which occurred while the Southwest Airlines plane was preparing to take off at an Oakland airport. Qiu said the flight attendant ordered Armstrong to pull up his pants, to which the Green Day frontman replied: “Don’t you have better things to do than worry about that?” The attendant reportedly repeated the request and threatened Armstrong that he would be booted out of the plane if he refuses. Armstrong reportedly told the attendant that he was just “trying to get to my f****** seat.”

After the exchange, Armstrong and a companion were ordered to deplane. Armstrong tweeted about the experience later that night. “Just got kicked off a southwest flight because my pants sagged too low! What the f**k? No joke!” he said. Southwest, on the other hand, apologized to Armstrong about the incident. “As soon as we became aware of what had happened, we reached out to apologize for this Customer’s experience,” the airline said in a statement. Armstrong eventually took the next available flight to Burbank.
