Grow your business with Globe Charge
Globe Telecom, together with G-Xchange Inc. (the operator of G-cash) and Globe myBusiness, recently launched Globe Charge — a solution that transforms mobile phones into a point-of-sale (POS) terminal. Small and medium businesses (SMBs) can now accept cashless payments without the need of applying for more expensive card terminals.
According to GXI President Paolo Baltao, “Globe once again brings the synergy of mobile technology and cashless commerce into an entirely new dimension with Globe Charge. With just a mobile card reader plugged into a smartphone or tablet, Globe Charge will open up more opportunities for business growth and payment generation for any form of trade which accepts cashless payments, particularly MasterCard, and very soon, Visa.”
Senior Vice President for Globe myBusiness Martha Sazon also added, “Globe Charge will enable SMBs to offer more payment options, which would mean more customers, increased sales and business growth, and on a larger scale, create a wonderful economic environment for the country.”
So how does Globe Charge work?
There are certain prerequisites (assuming the business is already registered with BIR). A merchant must avail the Globe Charge Mobile Card Reader for a one-time payment of Php 999.00. Or you can get it for FREE at Plan 999 which comes with a Samsung Galaxy Win, surfing-texting-calling combos, plus consumables. For the dongle to work, Globe Charge mobile app should be installed on your smartphone or tablet. The app is available from the App store or Google Play (sorry, Blackberry users). And last but not the least, one must create a Globe Charge merchant account via the mobile app, FREE of charge with no recurring fee. Accreditation as a Globe Charge merchant takes place within 7 business days, after face to face validation with a Globe representative (Know-Your-Merchant process).
Once everything is done, the merchant may already accept MasterCard credit and debit cards (Visa will be available soon) as payments. Just connect the dongle through the 3.5mm jack, swipe the card, enter certain details, let the customer sign on your tablet or smartphone, and transaction is done. The customer will receive the acknowledgement receipt via email or SMS (the OR will be issued by the merchant). Settlement will be received as early as the next banking day. Very convenient for both the customer and the merchant, right?
This has been one of Globe’s best innovation so far, taking cashless commerce to the next level. They have really understood the needs of the customers and was able to come up with a great solution — at a very low cost.
