Henry Allingham: World’s oldest man dies at 113


Henry Allingham, the world’s oldest man and also the oldest surviving World War I veteran, has died at the age of 113 and 42 days.

Mr. Allingham’s care home at St. Dunstain, Ovingdean, England said in a statement that he died in his sleep.

Henry William Allingham was born on June 6, 1896 and died on July 18, 2009. At 113 years old, he became the oldest living man in the world; following the death of Japanese supercentenarian Tomoji Tanabe on June 19, 2009, which was confirmed by Guinness World Records.

Mr Allingham, has five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild.
