Here come the flesh-eating robots
The U.S. Defense Department is funding research into military robots that power themselves by consuming organic material, from grass to furniture or even human corpse. They call it EATR: Energetically Autonomous Tactical Robot.
Yes, it looks like a scene from a sci-fi movie but the biologically inspired machine is designed to do just that. It could roam on its own for months, even years, without having to be refueled or serviced.
However, do not be alarmed. The EATR robots aren’t just built to eat humans. They have this so-called fuel versatility, as gasoline, kerosene, diesel, cooking oil and solar power may also be used. But we think human flesh tastes better to robots. And if the machines can’t find enough dead people to eat, they can always make new ones.
